American Library Association
The ALA is the oldest and largest library association in the world.

BookPALS is founded on a clear premise: children must be exposed to the magic of books in order to develop a love of reading. The world of literacy and literature is then opened to these children by the very people who make books come alive through their talent and training. Who better to instill that love than actors, gifted in the art of storytelling?

First Book provides access to new books for children in need. To date, First Book has distributed more than 80 million books and educational resources to programs and schools serving children from low-income families throughout the United States and Canada. First Book is transforming the lives of children in need and elevating the quality of education by making new, high-quality books available on an ongoing basis.

Kids Need to Read
Kids Need to Read works to create a culture of reading for children by providing inspiring books to underfunded schools, libraries, and literacy programs across the United States, especially those serving disadvantaged children.

Literacy Information and Communication System
The Literacy Information and Communication System, commonly referred to as LINCS, is a national dissemination, resource gathering, and professional development system providing information on a wide variety of literacy relevant topics, issues, and resources. You can use this site to search for local literacy programs in your area.

National Summer Learning Association
The National Summer Learning Association works to help engage children and combat summer reading loss especially in low-income communities.

PencilPALS is a program designed to make reading and writing a first person experience for children in elementary and middle schools.

Reach Out and Read
Reach Out and Read is an evidence-based nonprofit organization that promotes early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms nationwide by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud. Reach Out and Read prepares America's youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together.

Reading is Fundamental
The Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) vision is a literate America in which all children have access to books and discover the joys and value of reading. RIF is the largest children’s literacy nonprofit in the United States.

Storyline Online
In 2001, the SAG Foundation was given a generous grant by Verizon to create five digital videos featuring professional actors reading quality children’s books. Storyline Online also features supplemental activities for each book developed by an early literacy specialist. Together, the videos and related curriculum strengthen comprehension, verbal and written skills of English language learners worldwide. Available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, free of charge, Storyline Online ensures that every child who has access to an Internet connection can be exposed to a story.

Success for All Foundation
The Success For All Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development, evaluation, and dissemination of proven reform models for preschool, elementary, and middle schools, especially those serving many children placed at risk. The Success for All Foundation’s Early Childhood programs for preschool and kindergarten children promote, develop, and enhance language and literacy skills, as well as mathematical, scientific, listening and social skills, creative expression, and positive self-esteem. Each program provides young children with an experiential and child-centered curriculum that gives them the necessary foundation for success in elementary school.
