Reading together at bedtime tips!

1. Make it a routine!

Reading a bedtime story from the newborn stage sets the foundation for a routine as they grow, making it easier for little ones to recognise that it is time to go to sleep.

2. Get cosy!

Dimming the lights and limiting stimulation is an important step to creating an environment where both of you can begin to relax and focus on the story.

3. Choose the right story!

Though that book with fun sounds and buttons might be their favourite, it might not be the most relaxing. Instead, let them pick a story that is less stimulating and captures their imagination.

4. Take time to connect!

A bedtime story provides a great opportunity to engage your child in a deeper conversation. Is there a relatable theme or character? Use this time to connect to your child and get curious about their day.
